[safnog-oc] SAFNOG/EANOG/tzNOG Announcement - Final Draft

Hi all,

maybe to explain a little bit more.

We have serious push from the regulator to a) get IXPs in all kinds of
locations operational and b) all operators operating in & around these
locations MUST connect to these IXPs. In fact senior regulators visiting
IXPs and checking!

we know plugging a cable in doesn't make traffic flow...

several national operators in TZ do currently show up at several TZ IXPs.
And some less experienced folk as questions: how do we do that so it
doesn't loop (paraphrased).

PCH has the nice presentations about the hot potatoes. And I have told
Nishal of the need - he's warned.

Not necessarily inside the SafNOG program, possibly the day following
it, I would like us to get the right people between "enable" and
decision-making in a room and get that cleared up. And maybe to have it
less publicly advertised might help attendance and active participation.

That 2nd item, v6, was basically to do a hackathon very similar to Dakar.
Sit someone down (who has v6 capable upstream(s)), who has the buy-in
and approval for doing changes (if needed) , and go through the steps.
Maybe 2nd day after official SafNOG program, or 2nd half of first day.

I strongly believe these are both different target audience from TzNOG
students.

We can / should look at both separately. At the moment (in my mind) not
asking anything of SafNOG. But some of Nishal ;-)

Frank
