Hi Portia,

As per my eMail of the 7th June,

  *   the rate of $85.00 per night is confirmed.
  *   I queried re the conference “code” and was advised the delegates must book directly with Oparebea Amoako, the Reservations Manager via eMail and quote SAFNOG CONFERENCE.   *   On me querying with Taj, if there is a direct link for bookings, especially for events, there isn’t. If there is any problem, maybe put my contact details as an escalation.

Alternate options are

  1.  Southern Sun Ridgeway (https://www.southernsun.com/southern-sun-ridgeway-lusaka) which is in walking distance (500m) from the Taj Pamodzi.
  2.  Latitude 15 (https://15.thelatitudehotels.com/#), which is approximately 7kms away from the Taj. This is one of Lusaka’s premier hotel. You will however be travelling with the traffic in the mornings. You will require a car / lift.
  3.  Radisson Blue (https://www.radissonhotels.com/en-us/hotels/radisson-blu-lusaka) which is approximately 4kms away from the Taj. It’s advantage is it is opposite one of the bigger malls in Lusaka. You will require a car / lift.
  4.  There are others such as the Protea (Towers / Arcades)  and Sarovar, both within 4kms – 5kms of the Taj.
Please note, we don’t have Uber but have a similar online hailing service call Yango or Ulendo. Yango is the more commonly used. The apps will need to be downloaded and the person registered as per Uber.

  *   No strict health regulations since the COVID restrictions were lifted. I landed back in Zambia on Friday morning from South Africa on a RSA passport and was not asked for any special health certifications (e.g yellow fever).  I am not a guru on this and recommend the individuals do their own checking and confirmation.
  *   Please send a template of the Visa application form which I will get prepared should it be required. Visas on arrival (https://www.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm/for-visitors/). are issued for a number of countries and cost USD50 and therefore having a letter on a hand is preferable / advisable.
SA passport holders don’t need a visa & SADC passport holders don’t, as a rule, need visas. UK, Germany I know can get on arrival very easily.

Good day Geoff,

Please kindly confirm the hotel conference rates, I saw a mention of  $85 p/p per night for bed and breakfast? We will appreciate the feedback soonest so that we can put it up on the website.

We would appreciate it if the hotel could provide us with a link for the delegates to book on the special rates or if they can create a special code i.e. “SAFNOG8-2023” for our delegates to get the special rates when booking.

Please also recommend alternative accommodation near the main venue – two or three alternatives should be fine.

We will also appreciate travel guidelines to Zambia, including:

·       health regulations for Zambia i.e. yellow card etc.

·       visa requirements (we will need assistance with letters from the local host for those who require visa, we will be happy to assist with a daft template if required)

·       local transport – the best way to move around in Lusaka
