<p>They are both open standard protocols and I would say one is better than the other.<br>

<p>I personally prefer IS-IS and its so simple for me to just deploy all boxes in the core as level-2 only boxes and i can scale to over 200 routers without a problem in a single topology/area....<br>
</p>

<p>Second thing for me personally is on IOS using “<strong>multi-topology</strong>”, independent of IPv4/IS-IS allows for incremental deployment of IPv6/IS-IS... <br>

runs on any PE & P device on an ISP network. OSPF is pretty good in handling the core network routing while BGP & EGP handle the last-mile routing between PE & CE devices. BGP & EGP can run on top of OSPF. </font><font face="arial, helvetica, sans-serif">I
